Wái (ไว้) does one job in four settings — understand it by ear here. It says the result is meant to stay that way: put something down and leave it there, do it in advance so it is already sorted, write it down now because you will want it later — or, at the front of a sentence, put the whole thing off: ไว้วันหลัง, “another time”.
