Homes & housing: Types of home
Talk about where you live in Thai. This first part of Homes & housing covers the options — a บ้านเดี่ยว (detached house), บ้านแฝด (semi-detached), ตึกแถว (shophouse), คอนโด (condo), อพาร์ตเมนต์ (apartment) or หอพัก (dorm), renting versus buying — and the building itself: ชั้น (floors), the ดาดฟ้า (roof deck), หลังคา (roof), ประตูรั้ว (gate), กำแพง (wall) and สนามหญ้า (lawn). All 16 sentences are recorded by native speakers and come with English translations and word-by-word notes, so the housing vocabulary sticks by ear.
