Performing a ไหว้ (the palms-together gesture of respect) to พ่อตา (the wife's father) and แม่ยาย (the wife's mother) on a first meeting matters a great deal; making a good impression on the in-laws is important.

Living together before marriage (อยู่ด้วยกันก่อนแต่งงาน) was once frowned upon but is increasingly common and accepted among younger, urban Thais.

ความสัมพันธ์ is the noun "a relationship," beside the verb คบกัน (to date). ระยะสั้น = short-term (ระยะ "period" + สั้น "short"); the opposite is ระยะยาว (long-term). มองหา = to look for, to seek.
The classic "so where is this going?" question. ความสัมพันธ์แบบจริงจัง = a serious relationship (แบบ marks the kind); คบกันสบายๆ = seeing each other casually (สบายๆ = easygoing) — a gentler "casual" than คบเล่นๆ.
