Three words that place an action in time — understand them by ear here. แล้ว at the end of a sentence is "already, it's done", and in the middle it is "and then" — or, after something you see or hear, the effect it has on you: ได้ยินแล้วปลื้ม, "hearing that makes my day"; เพิ่ง in front of the verb is "just a moment ago", and อย่าเพิ่ง is "don't … yet"; and เสียก่อน is "first, before anything else".
