Thailand runs on three seasons, not four — hot (roughly March–May), rainy, and cool.

In the rainy season (roughly May–October) downpours blow in fast and heavy, so people routinely keep an umbrella on them — the same umbrella doubles as a sunshade on hot days.

In Thailand's heat, cloud cover is a relief rather than a disappointment — clouds over the midday sun noticeably take the edge off the temperature.
บนดอยอุณหภูมิต่ำกว่าในเมืองมากครับ
Up the mountain the temperature is much lower than in town.

ดอย is the northern-Thai word for mountain, seen in names like ดอยอินทนนท์ (Doi Inthanon) — Thailand's highest peak, where cool-season nights can approach freezing.
