Thailand's rainy season runs roughly May to October, with near-daily downpours across much of the country, so a raincoat or folding umbrella is normal everyday carry for months at a time.

A ผ้าถุง is a wrapped tube-skirt worn as comfortable everyday or at-home dress, especially by older women. Note the verb นุ่ง — used for wrapping on lower-body garments like this, where most clothes otherwise take ใส่.

ดอย is a northern Thai word for a highland mountain (as in Doi Inthanon, Doi Suthep). Unlike the lowlands these uplands genuinely get cold — chilly winter mornings, occasionally near freezing — which is why warm gear like gloves makes sense.
