Waterfalls are at their fullest in the rainy season (roughly June–October); in the dry months many shrink to a trickle, so locals time visits to the rains.

Bold, food-grabbing monkeys are notorious at spots like Lopburi and Phra Nang beach; signs warn visitors not to carry visible food or feed them.

Cobras and other snakes turn up in gardens and homes, especially in the rains; Thailand's snake-catching firefighters are famous for the call-outs they handle.
Hornbills are treated as an indicator of forest health — they need large old trees to nest in, so their presence signals an intact ecosystem. Thai conservation groups run hornbill nest-adoption projects.

Around now, sea turtles come up to lay eggs on the beach.
Sea turtles nest on quiet beaches in the south; nesting sites are protected and some, like those run by the navy on Phuket and the Similans, raise hatchlings for release.
Rare pink dolphins around Khanom and Irrawaddy dolphins in Songkhla Lake are local draws; sightings are a treat, and responsible boat operators keep their distance.
