Romance & dating: Commitment & marriage

Go past dating into love, devotion and commitment. This page covers how Thais show love — through คำพูด (words) or การกระทำ (actions) — and the milestones beyond: meeting พ่อตาแม่ยาย (the in-laws), believing in เนื้อคู่ (a soulmate), and finding your คู่ชีวิต (life partner). It runs through ภรรยา (a wife) and the colloquial เมีย (wife), ครบรอบ (an anniversary), จดทะเบียนสมรส (registering a marriage), and the wish to ลงหลักปักฐาน (settle down). All 27 sentences are recorded by native speakers and come with English translations and word-by-word notes, so this committed-relationship vocabulary settles in by ear.
