Handle the harder side of love. This page moves through ความไว้ใจ (trust) and its enemy หึง (jealousy), the affectionate sulk-and-coax of งอน (sulking) and ง้อ (making up), and real conflict — เถียง (bickering) and ทะเลาะ (fighting). It faces นอกใจ (being unfaithful) and a มือที่สาม (third party), then a breakup: เลิกกัน (splitting up), อกหัก (heartbreak) and ใจสลาย (devastation), before ทำใจ (coming to terms) and moving on to a แฟนใหม่ (new partner). All 29 sentences are recorded by native speakers and come with English translations and word-by-word notes, so this emotional vocabulary sticks by ear.

1ความไว้ใจtrust…
ถ้าไม่มีความไว้ใจ อยู่ด้วยกันก็เหนื่อย
thâa mâi mii khwaam-wái-jai yùu dûai gan gâw nùeai
ความไว้ใจ — trust — from ไว้ใจ (to trust) + ความ, which turns a verb or adjective into a noun. ถ้า…ก็ frames a condition and its result.
2ระแวงsuspicious…
เราไว้ใจกันเต็มที่ ไม่เคยต้องระแวงกันเลย
rao wái-jai gan dtem-thîi mâi khoei dtâwng rá-waaeng gan loei
We trust each other completely — we never have to be suspicious.
เรา/ rao=weไว้ใจ/ wái-jai=trustกัน/ gan=(with each other)เต็มที่/ dtem-thîi=fullyไม่/ mâi=notเคย/ khoei=everต้อง/ dtâwng=have toระแวง/ rá-waaeng=suspiciousกัน/ gan=(with each other)เลย/ loei=(at all)
ระแวง — to be suspicious or wary of a partner; the watchful jealousy that wears down trust. ไม่ต้องระแวง = no need to second-guess each other. เรา (rao) is 'we', and in casual speech can also mean 'I' — common among friends, especially women. พวกเรา (phûak rao) is 'we, all of us'.
คือ… is a hesitant opener ("it's like… / well…"). Talking openly about ความรู้สึก (feelings) doesn't always come easily; he admits he isn't ชิน (used to) it, but is trying.
5ปัญหาproblems…
ปัญหาส่วนใหญ่หายได้ถ้ายอมคุยกันตรงๆ
bpan-hǎa sùan-yài hǎai dâi thâa yawm khui gan dtrong-dtrong
Most problems go away if you're willing to talk things through openly.
คุยกันตรงๆ — "to talk straight" — addressing things openly rather than avoiding conflict (a strong Thai tendency, given เกรงใจ). ยอม = to be willing to.
งอน — a flirtatious, affectionate sulk: pouting and going quiet to show you're upset, expecting to be coaxed back. A core part of Thai couple dynamics.
งอน (to sulk) and ง้อ (to coax back) are the two halves of a Thai couple's make-up ritual — one pouts, the other smooths it over.
12เถียงbicker…
เถียงกันบ่อย แต่ไม่เคยโกรธกันข้ามวัน
thǐang gan bòi dtàae mâi khoei gròot gan khâam wan
We bicker a lot, but we never stay angry into the next day.
เถียง/ thǐang=argueกัน/ gan=(with each other)บ่อย/ bòi=oftenแต่/ dtàae=butไม่/ mâi=notเคย/ khoei=everโกรธ/ gròot=angryกัน/ gan=(with each other)ข้าม/ khâam=crossวัน/ wan=day
เถียง = to argue or bicker (talk back, disagree) — lighter than ทะเลาะ (a fight). "ไม่โกรธกันข้ามวัน" — never staying angry overnight — is folk wisdom for a healthy couple.
13ทะเลาะfight…
เมื่อคืนทะเลาะกันหนักเลย เรื่องไม่เป็นเรื่องแท้ๆ
mûea-khuuen thá-láw gan nàk loei rûeang mâi bpen rûeang tháae-tháae
We had a bad fight last night, over something so trivial.
เรื่องไม่เป็นเรื่อง — "a matter that's not a matter" — a set phrase for something utterly trivial; แท้ๆ adds exasperation. ทะเลาะ = to quarrel.
14เข้าใจผิดmisunderstanding…
เราแค่เข้าใจผิดกัน พอได้คุยกันก็หายโกรธ
rao khâae khâo-jai phìt gan phaw dâi khui gan gâw hǎai gròot
It was just a misunderstanding — once we talked, the anger faded.
เรา/ rao=weแค่/ khâae=justเข้าใจ/ khâo-jai=understand ("enter the heart")ผิด/ phìt=wrongกัน/ gan=(with each other)พอ/ phaw=as soon as ("enough")ได้/ dâi=get toคุย/ khui=talkกัน/ gan=(with each other)ก็/ gâw=(then)หาย/ hǎai=recoverโกรธ/ gròot=anger
เข้าใจผิด = to misunderstand (เข้าใจ "understand" + ผิด "wrong"). พอ…ก็ = "once X, then Y". หายโกรธ = the anger fades.
15ปรับเข้าหากันadjust…
คบกันก็ต้องรู้จักปรับเข้าหากันบ้างสิ
khóp gan gâw dtâwng rúu-jàk bpràp khâo hǎa gan bâang sì
In a relationship you've got to learn to adjust to each other a bit, you know.
คบ/ khóp=dateกัน/ gan=(with each other)ก็/ gâw=(then)ต้อง/ dtâwng=have toรู้จัก/ rúu-jàk=knowปรับ/ bpràp=adjustเข้าหา/ khâo hǎa=go towardกัน/ gan=(with each other)บ้าง/ bâang=someสิ/ sì=(urging)
ปรับเข้าหากัน — to adjust toward each other, to give and take and meet in the middle — seen as essential to a relationship. รู้จัก + verb = to learn to, to know how to.
That guy's got someone on the side — don't get involved with him.
ผู้ชาย/ phûu-chaai=manคน/ khon=person (classifier)นั้น/ nán=thatมี/ mii=haveกิ๊ก/ gík=someone on the sideเธอ/ thuhr=youอย่า/ yàa=don'tไป/ bpai=goยุ่ง/ yûng=meddleด้วย/ dûai=withเลย/ loei=(at all)
กิ๊ก — slang for a casual fling or secret lover on the side, less serious than a มือที่สาม ("third hand," the other person in an affair). Here เธอ is an intimate "you" to a close (female) friend. เธอ (thuhr) can also mean 'she'.
ไปได้สวย — "to go beautifully" — an idiom for things going smoothly or well. เป็นไงบ้าง is the casual "how's it going?"

อย่าเล่นตัวมากไป ไม่งั้นเขาจะเบื่อเอานะ
yàa lên dtua mâak bpai mâi ngán khǎo jà bùea ao ná

อย่า/ yàa=don'tเล่นตัว/ lên dtua=play hard to getมาก/ mâak=veryไป/ bpai=too ("go")ไม่งั้น/ mâi ngán=otherwiseเขา/ khǎo=heจะ/ jà=willเบื่อ/ bùea=boredเอา/ ao=(end up)นะ/ ná=(warning)
เล่นตัว — to play hard to get, to act coy or aloof to seem more desirable. ไม่งั้น = otherwise, or else; เอา here adds an "and then you'll end up…" warning.
ความสัมพันธ์ครั้งที่แล้ว = your last relationship (ครั้งที่แล้ว = last time). "อยู่ได้นานแค่ไหน" — how long it lasted — pairs the relationship noun with duration; a natural heart-to-heart question. เธอ (thuhr) here is 'you' — to a friend, partner or someone younger; it can also mean 'she'.
